A 1928 bungalow kitchen with three doors, a chimney in the wrong place and lead paint on every piece of trim.

WHAT WE DID

Lead-safe demolition, the old chimney and one load-bearing wall removed with an LVL beam, new wiring and plumbing to an island, inset cabinets, quartz counters and a range hood ducted outside.

RESULT

Ten weeks from demolition to dinner. Final $96,800 against a $95,400 estimate; the difference was tile the owners upgraded themselves.
